Places We've Been... 2002 - 2003
This was our schedule for the 2002-2003 school year. We hope we were able to visit your school and share Danae's story.
On September 5th, 2002, Cheryl spoke to 13 young adults at Youth Services Canada for Regional Employment Development in Saskatoon.
Shelagh and Cheryl presented the Danae's Song program to 600 students and teachers at Weyburn Comprehensive Collegiate in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, on October 24th.
150 students heard Danae's story at Quill Lake Comprehensive School on October 30th, in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan.
Kerrobert, Sask. hosted our program for 150 students at Kerrobert High School on November 1st.
250 adults and teens attended an evening program, open to the community, at Marion M. Graham Collegiate (Danae's high school) on November 25th, in Saskatoon.
December 2nd & 3rd, found us up in northern Saskatchewan. Dene High Community School hosted our program in La Loche, on December 2nd, for 250 students, teachers and community members. On December 3rd, we were in Turner Lake at Birch Ridge Community School for an audience of 150.
We returned up to northern Saskatchewan to do Danae's Song for St. Louis School at English River First Nation, on December 10th. Approximately 150 people were in attendence.
Davidson High School had an attendence of 250 students and teachers at our program, on February 13th, 2003, in Davidson, Sask.
We presented two presentations, for at least 1,000 students on February 19th. They took place at Balfour Collegiate, in Regina, Sask.
On February 28th, we were at Ricki's/Bootlegger, Circle Centre Mall, in Saskatoon. Danae's Song joined forces with BADD (Bootlegger Against Drinking & Driving) campaign. This was an opportunity to view our program videos and displays, as well as, to talk informally with Cheryl (Danae's mom) and Shelagh (paramedic).
Cheryl hosted a display table pertaining to Danae's Song at Bootlegger in the Mall at Lawson Heights on Sunday, March 2nd. This was in partnership with the BADD campaign.
Confederation Park Mall, in Saskatoon, had Cheryl, along with her program display, at the Bootlegger's BADD Campaign on Saturday, March 8th.
Monday, March 10th, McLurg High School hosted our program in Wilkie, Sask., for 210 students.
Father Vachon Elementary School hosted our presentation for 71 students on Thursday, March 13th, in Saskatoon, Sask.
Next on the list was Lucky Lake, Sask., on Wednesday, March 19th. We presented our program for 240 students, teachers and community members at the Lucky Lake High School.
Saturday, March 22nd, saw us in Regina Sask., for the Canadian Youth Against Drunk Driving Conference (CYAID). Approximately 700 students from SADD groups across Canada were in attendance.
We were at Pierceland High School, in Pierceland, Sask., on Tuesday, March 25th. There were approximately 200 students who saw the presentation.
April 1st, saw us travelling to Norquay, Sask., to do the program for the 200 students in Norquay High School.
Last night, we (Cheryl & Shelagh) stayed in Regina, to prepare for our pulbic evening performance of Danae's Song. We presented it at Balfour Collegiate for about 100 parents, students and community members, on April 2nd. Thanks for having us back so soon!
Again, we stayed the night in Regina and presented Danae's Song to Miller High School on April 3rd. There were about 1,000 students in attendance.
April 8th, was a special day for me to do the program. I was at Caswell Community School in Saskatoon. The teacher who invited us, is Mr. Neil Sedgwick. He was Danae's grade 7 teacher and also sang in the choir for her funeral. He taught all three of my girls in school, as well as, sang with them in the Fireside Singers. The program was a bit more difficult to do as it brought back memories of past years, but it was also wonderful to make contact with Neil again. He's a dedicated teacher and a wonderful, caring person. 100 grade 7 and 8 students were in attendance.
April 9th, we were off to Biggar, Sask., to do the Prairie West Regional College and High School. Several other schools joined in for a total of 450 students and teachers.
Muskeg Lake, Sask., was next on the list. 180 students from Leask High School heard the Danae's Song program on April 15th.
On May 7th, we presented our first program ever, in the province of Ontario. Red Lake District High School flew us up to Red Lake, Ontario. There were approximately 320 students, teachers and community members in attendance for the show.
We did Danae's Song for Debden School in Debden, Saskatchewan on May 23rd, 2003, for 180 students and teachers.
The Driver's Ed class at Bishop James Mahoney High School heard Danae's story on May 26th, 2003, in Saskatoon. 30 students attended the class.
May 27th, 2003, had us travelling to Avonlea School in Avonlea, Saskatchewan. We presented Danae's Song for 350 students from Avonlea and the surrounding district schools.
280 students from Macklin High School in Macklin, Sask.,
heard our program on May 28th, 2003.
Melville Comprehensive School, in Melville, Saskatchewan, hosted the
Danae's Song program on June 3rd, 2003. Between students and staff,
the program was seen by 500 people.
On June 6th, we presented our program to Rosthern Junior College in Rosthern, Sask. The attendance was around 125 students.
Last, but not least, was Unity Composite High School in Unity, Saskatchewan, on June 9th, 2003. 325 students, staff, EMTs, firemen & police officers were at the program.

Over 38,290 adults, students, teachers and community members have seen The Danae's Song Program. We hope to visit your school next year!
This ends our 2002-2003 school schedule. Thank you to all the schools and students for their support during this past year. You've given us many wonderful memories.
